Conference on Polish researchers in the UK

On 30th November 2013 we invite you to a conference entitled “Do the Humanities have a Nationality? Polish Scholars in the UK”. This time it will take place at an exceptional location that is the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, UCL.

On behalf of the SSEES head, Prof. Slavo Radoševic, the conference will be opened by Professor Richard Butterwick-Pawlikowski, while the opening lecture will be conducted by Dr. Anne White from the Department of Politics, Languages and International Studies, University of Bath.

In the first part of the conference, Prof. Arkady Rzegocki will present a report on the subject of the educational needs of the Poles living in the United Kingdom, which is a result of a research programme carried out by the Jagiellonian University Polish Research Centre in London this passing year. In the afternoon, there will take place a discussion entitled “Academic policy in the making. A Polish case.”

“We would like to cordially invite all academic workers, as well as Polish and British students,” says Prof. Arkady Rzegocki. “I believe this will be a good opportunity for a serious debate on Polish science and scholarship in the United Kingdom, and on education tailored for the needs of the Poles who live there.”
